When I removed my floor boards I ran with just foot pegs for about 10min,
It was just too dangerous for my type of riding. All in would take was for one slip off the peg, & I would have had tyre marks up my leg.
I added nerfs the next day.
With barrety removed my lights still work, (no as bright though), I think the starter runs them without a battery.
RCR & HSP have a battery eliminater kit.
K&N filter will make your blazer breath alot better, you will notice the engine will build revs faster.

don't quote me on this but I think the air box has vacuum lines from the carb. As air is sucked through the air box, vacuum is created for the carb to open properly.

Paul, I too could be wrong, but there shouldn't be any vacuum lines to the airbox ( I'm more familiar with the 400's so I could be passing gas). If you guys do remove the airbox, for trail riding I strongly suggest a water repellent Outwear, and check your jetting also. As far as the output of your stator (lights) you can send in your stator to Ricky Stator (ads in back of Dirt Wheels) for around $75 he'll step up the output. Loose your oil injection, and reroute the battery cables up front. Either install a White Bros battery eliminator capacitor, or check out X-Static for around $100 you can get a 300cca 2.5lbs thin film battery. This thing is about as thick as two wallets stacked together. Mount it up front where the oil injection tank used to be.

Just my 2c,
Ken Thompson

Do you want to remove floor boards and battery to increase performance? If so, your wasting your time. The only thing you will do is lower the value of your quad. The performance gain would be extremely small. With your mods I wouldn't remove the air box especially if you trail ride. I would install a K&N to help it breath a little better. If you really want more power, sell it, before you dump a ton a cash into it, and buy something else.

I would have to Agree 100% with X. If you want more power get a pipe and clutch kit for it,

and maybe Aluminum Wheels for weight and looks. That would be as far as I would go. The only

real thing you are going to acomplish by removing your Starter, Battery, Floorboards, etc.,

etc. is LOWER the value. The Gains will not be worth it on a TRAIL BLAZER. You are not MOTO X

RACING, And if you are get a different bike. IMHO the performance you gain, AFTER SPENDING ALL

YOUR MONEY, will be equal to a STOCK 400 Scrambler AT BEST.

98 trailblazer,

Removing the battery could cause harm to every light bulb on the machine. You need to install a diode in lieu of the battery. The battery is used as a voltage regulator on Polaris machines.

As far as removing the floorboards are concrened, why would you want to? Just because some spode in a magazine says he hates floorboards? If you are looking to lose weight on your quad (and who isn't), try the aluminum floorboards off of a Scrambler of the same year. If you want to keep your feet from slipping, HPD makes a pair of foot pegs for the floorboards. They are fairly cheap alternatives to hacking up your floorboards. Also on the 1998 and older models with out concentric drive the mounts for the floorboards are diffrent than the 1999 and newer. Believe it or not the frame on the older models is actually lighter in weight than the newer models.
