Rear rack Scrambler 500
#3
I think they specify weights on the tow hitches and racks for maximum safety and insurance purposes. Rear racks are usually 110-120 lbs or so, and fronts are about 60-70. In actuality, you can sit on them, jump up and down on them and carry a lot more weight without incident. Afterall, it's all bolted to the same frame you are sitting on. Some of it has to do with the total vehicle weight, and trying to keep it where you won't bust the suspension. You also don't want to overload one end of the vehicle and make it handle bad. If you put 200 lbs back there and stand on a scrabler's throttle, chances are you're going over backwards. Just use good judgement and pack the load safely. Know it will handle much differently, become top heavy and tail or nose biased. Inflate the tires a little more, just like when towing or hauling in a truck.
