Scrambler 500 racer from HPD?
#1
Last night i was flipping through a December 98 issue of ATV sport and noticed an article about a MX racer from HPD. turns out it is a scrambler 500 (kinda, the only stock parts are the plastic, cylinder, and clutch cover)
Anyway, i didn't know HPD did any major motor work to the 500? He replaced the head and built a new transmission, that is lighterr, narrower, and shifts much faster. And get this, the entire thing weighs about 340 pounds! Here is alittle of what ATv sport had to say: "The power is amazing. For an automatic to build this much RPM and horsepower this quikly is an awesome experience"
Does anyone know when HPD will have any head mods or a cam or something available to the public? I can't find anything except a pipe and clutch kit on there website. I really hope they come out with something real soon.
In the same article they also tested the HPD trail mod kit for the scrambler 400.

That article was full of mistakes... It was a 400 2-stroke, not a 500 4-stroke. The only thing Scrambler 500 on the machine was the fenders. Even the line about the "familier 4-stroke rumble" or somthing like that was made up. Nice article other than that they got all the information wrong. :-) LOL

Oh that sucks. i was maybe thinking it was the 400 until they said "hear the familar 4 stroke sound" how could they mess up that bad? Did they even ride it? I mean they must have called it a scrambler 500 atleast 5 times in the article. I don't see how it could have that many mistakes unless it was completely made up and they didn't even ride it. Oh well tho. I still hope HPD comes out with something for the 500.

HPD makes far more than they advertise. I know for a fact that they make complete frames for TT or MX racing. If you want to sneak a peak, look at lakesidepolaris.com. Art races the bike in the picture and just bought another frame from HPD. It looks really cool!
