MT, are you sure you weren't confusing the Grizz with the 650 Prarie?
In my opinion, the Prarie is the one with the very thin plastic, and has a trailer hitch 'optional'.
The Grizzly is a fine machine, would be tough to decide between it & the 700.
The 650 is also a great running machine (so many choices, so little money) but it just isn't for me. If I gotta buy decent tires for it (the grizz tires are cheaper than what is on the 700, but the 650s are like potato peels) plus a hitch (I do a lot of uitilty work) you just ate up any price difference, and a bunch of the weight difference between the machines. Because of that, I would go with the 660 or 700 for the ultimate big bore for MY uses.

On the other hand, there are some mighty good deals to be had on the 500 HO...that might just be enough bike, as well.

Have fun, keep the fires burning, and the tires down.

MT~

I actually hang out in the Cat, Kawasaki, Suzuki, & Yamaha forums because I own or owned those quads. I hang out in the Polaris because my brother in law is a die in the wool polaris man, has 3 of them, and I keep a look out for anything that may concern his quads. I also assume he's going to be modding his soon, so I keep an eye out for what other 700 Twin owners are doing to their quads...he's tired have being whipped so easily by my modified 660. I am here enjoying the forum and don't own a Yamaha or a Polaris. I just like seeing what everyone has to say about all the different machines. I have a 01 Rubicon and love it. Just bought a Rancher ES 4X4 for the kids, I quite like riding it too.

For a big machine, I'll wait for the Rincon. For what is out there now it would probably be a Grizzly. Mainly because their owners don't seem to complain about them. You read in the Polaris forum and their owners seem to complain about them more than owners of the others.

It seems though in the Yamaha forum they only talk about the Grizz and Raptor, doesn't Yamaha make more than two ATV's? Have friends with Kodiaks that have no problems and like them alot.

Everyone enjoy your machines.

ALL I NEED TO SAY IS 650
IT WINS IN ALL RACES AND TRAILS
IT DOESNT BOG AS GOOD BUT YOU CAN TAKE IT TO A MOTO TRACK AND DO DOUBLES

IT IS ASLO VERY DETUNED
THE FIRST PRARIE BENT THE FRAM DO TO THE AMOUNT OF TOURQUE IT WOULD PRODUCE THEY HAD TO CHANGE THE WHOLE ENGINE TO MAKE IT AS TAME AS IT IS AND IT IS STILL A ROCKET

Farmer~

I happen to be an IRS freak, so my choices were the SP700 or the 660 as well. While I do like the 660 better, but my feelings wouldn't have been totally hurt to have got the SP700. Both are good ones. I actually think it would be fun to mod the SP700 up like I'm doing with the Grizz. (I'm 686'n the grizz later this spring).

Specta~

Honda builds very solid machines. I was just disappointed that they didn't put a front locker on the upcoming Rincon. I think a front locker is one of those things that once you actually have a quad that locks...you never want to be without it.

dave b, LMAO!!! now that was funny!!!
as for the sportsman 700, or the grizzly, o.k. i'll take on of each!!! they have there compairasons, and a differance or 2. i have never been beaten from a sportsman 700, and dought a stock one can outrun me. they do seem to be real close in a race, to about 50 or so. i usually have a 1/2 quad lead, but at 50, i walk. i noticed by my friends 500 that polaris likes the out of the hole responce from there quads, witch is great, couse noone really ever races wide open in the tight trails, where these quads shine at! either or, who really cares, as long as you can pull me out, or vice versa, when it gets a little too deep!

i think he was jesting at your large print. lol. anyways, i didn't know the prarie didn't come standard with a hitch, that seems strange for a utility quad. I was trying to decide what to get up untill a month ago, than decided on the grizz, would have gotten the prarie if it had IRS.
