6x6 ATV

Hausdog.
I've got a Ranger 6x6 (Polaris) and I know quite a few people that have the regular Polaris 6x6. People that have them love them. The Ranger is like a small jeep. Steering wheel, 2 seats (3 person bench seat in the 2002 model), BIG box for carrying Stuff. After I got mine, I didn't use the Sportsman 4x4 much. It's handy just to throw s*&@ in the back, jump in and go. I like the fact that the box is larger than the regular 6x6. The downside is it's also wider so if you do a lot of narrow trail riding, the regular 6x6 would be better. As for other makes, none of them (that I know of) are as fast as the Polaris. The Ranger has a top speed of about 40 while the 6x6 would be like any other sportsman 500. All in all, they go through, pull and haul lots!
Let me know if have any other questions about the Polari.

My friend has a Ranger 4x4, on this model there is a lever that locks/unlocks the rear differential. Is this feature on the 6x6? One more question on the 6x6, from what I read on this model, the rear set of wheels are on a solid axle swing arm while the middle whees are on independent "A' arms, is this correct and do these have individual shocks? Thanks.....MJSTX

Haus,
i had a Sportsman 6x6 for a year.
i went trail riding with the guys and i was always able to keep- up with them. in fact, it was fun to ride! turning around in the tight trails is tough though. the spring time mudding was incredible- it went ANYWHERE! in fact, my 4x4 buds didn't mind getting buried 'cause they know my 6x would be there to pull them out! LOL
a lot of the time i actually forgot i had 6 wheels! it's a fun ride and can be used as a work horse to.
personally, i would never concider a Ranger for the fact that i can't picture a golf cart riding down the trails i ride on. i guess out on the farm or driving down the street they would be right at home. the 3 seat Ranger is a nice improvement to their line-up.
all said, i'd buy another one someday. you can carry safely loads of gear, go the same places as your buddies 4x, it even power slides. you can show-off your MASSIVE mudding abilities to your 4x4 buddies and always make it home on Sun and brag to the guys at work on Monday! LOL

The rear four tires are always engaged on the 6x6 so you always have 4 wheel drive. The front is engaged like any other Polaris. The rear tires are on a solid axle and the whole rear assembly flexes right behind the middle tires. The middle tires have the same suspension setup as the rear of the sportsman.
Another thing to consider, the Ranger 6x6 weighs 600 pounds more than the reg. 6x6. You definitely don't powerslide it. And mtpockets comparison is correct, it's like riding a golf cart (altho a powerful one) on the trails. Even worse than the width is the height with the roll bar. Tough to sneak under the blowdowns. Then again, it's got lots of room to carry a chainsaw.

You are referring to a MAX ATV, they still make them, but I don't know anyone who has one.
Compared to the Polaris 6x6 I think they would ride rougher, though, as the only cusion you get is from the tires, they have no suspension, and are slow compared to the Polaris machines.
