500 h.o. creeping /killing
#1
I know this has been asked and explained several times, but it wasnt happening to me so i didnt pay much attention. My wheeler is doing the polaris creep at idle and i is a bitch to pull out of gear cause the belt is engauged. It also kills constantly when sitting still cause the belt isnt letting go and it drags the motor down. I have to hold the brake pretty hard to keep it from rolling so it just dies cause of the load at idle. Its not a high idle thing, and ive destroyed about 6 belts in a year. I realize its an alignment or shim deal but i dont know how to check or fix and I dont wanna take to the dealership(money pit.

take the belt cover off and look at the centrifugal clutch which is the one on front. the belt will be rubbing on either of the sides. you have to take the back pulley off and the shims which what i used were washers from parts store. the shims go behind the pulley you want the belt to be right in the middle of the front pulley at idle.

Just did mine last week. If you have any questions e-mail me at marvin841@hotmail.com. I had to add three additional "washers" to my driven (rear) clutch. I also adjusted the shift linkage and that makes shift like a hot knife in butter. One other thing I found was one of my weight bolts on the drive (front) clutch was sticking. I replaced all three of them at a cost of $9.00. I gained three mph top end and a whole lot of pull through the range. I also gave the both clutches a good old fashioned cleaning using a can of brake fluid and a air hose. One last thing make sure that the driven (rear) clutch is torqued to 17 Ft. Lbs it don't feel like much but it is plenty according to the manual.

Everyone has things that get on thier nerves,my little hang ups are the "CAPS" and the short cuts(where r u ).
Then the worst is people always correcting your grammer or spelling.
But I'm not gonna sit there and tell someone,do this ,use that.
