Hey, dont get me wrong Ken. I am not going to start butchering my nice 99 Sport to do the experiments on. I have been porting strictly Polaris cylinders for awhile now, but never really done alot of that stuff, YET! I get a mental picture of the destruction room with motor pieces sticking from the ceiling (LOL) There are not many people that do Polaris things in the south, and not many at all really. Experiments would be left to an extra motor with spare time and money. By the way, I was told that HPD copied their race pipe from a CPI design. Any info on that? I have nothing against HPD. In fact, their stuff works great, and I refer anyone to use their products. Bubba 99 Sport HPD trail pipe, race porting,Big bore on race gas, HPD power dome head, 39 PWK carb, aggressive clutch kit with roller secondary, kevlar belt, V-force reeds, Dual rate suspension springs, Tire/wheel combo, different gearing. This Polaris likes to eat Raptors and DS's!!!!!!

Bubba, I think the HPD pipe, that's the new race design, was "inspired" by the now defunked FTR/G-force pipe. I'd like to see one of the CPI units. I know they're big in the dunes out west. Some people are trying to give them a bad rap...they're jumping and trail blasting with light wieght drag pipes, when they crack, they say it's CPI's fault. Just what I've heard. Good luck with the experimentation, and please post the results.

Bubba, Good luck with your experiments & keep us posted.
However, for the 'one machine' person or those who aren't sure what to tinker with, I still recommend having someone knowlegable do the porting. Having someone experienced do the work means less time experimenting & more time riding!

Hey guys, thanks for the input. Just wanted to let you know I'm not under 30 and have been around the block awhile. I've got cylinder #14 up on the ole port table right now, and that's just in the last 90 days. It really doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure this stuff out. I've been porting all kinds of different models for 9-10 years, but just in the last year and a-half took into really liking the polaris stuff. The newer 400 cylinders have alot of potential, and I would be willing to put my race port job with the best of them. a 5.53 300FT timeslip out of a full bodied very trailable bike isnt too bad heh? And that's with a trail pipe.Again everyone thanks for the input. I love reading the forum. I dont want to come across as a know-it-all, because I DEFINITELY dont.It doesnt hurt to wander if you can get more sometimes. I just like to give my 2 cents like everyone else sometimes.Bubba

I've got a CPI pipe on order, it should be in sometime this week. I'll post some impressions on Dennis' forum after I've got a couple of rides on it.

Hey Kevin, I looked at CPI's site. I am tring to find out whether it is a race design or not. I am looking for something in the 7400-7500 range. It is gonna have to really appeal to me to keep me from ordering an HPD pipe. I drove a 416cc race mod alcohol burner this weekend. WHAT A RUSH!!!!!!! It was outpulling my buddie's ported 310cc 250r Honda with a big ftz pipe on it. He was shocked to say the least. Cant wait to see what it looks like. Thanks,Bubba
