I have a 97 scrambler 400 4x4. On the right side that covers the chain, just behind the brake pedal, there is a bolt (about 3" long) that goes through the chain cover. The only one that goes through the middle. This bolt has some kind of a funky nut on it. It doesn't have any shoulders on it. It turns when I try to break the bolt loose. How in the world do you get this nut off? Is there some kind of a special tool you have to use for this? Needless to say, there isn't hardly any room to get to it either. There is absolutely nothing said about this in my CLymer manual.

The nut is supposed to be welded on the other side.....someone broke it on yours.

There isn't enough room to get to it with any kind of a tool. But I bet I can get a welding rod in there!

Pull your skid plate off and you can get vise grips on it.When you put it back use anti sieze and dont tighten it up too tight. Then when you go to loosen it hold it with your fingers and smack your wrench with a hammer(just a sharp tap)it should come loose. Both of mine are lilke this and it can be a pain.
