Well, Polaris ATV enthuiasts, our Polaris insider, Jaime, says that today is the day that they announce the new high-performance quad. I have checked the Wall Street sources for a press release and there is nothing on new products. The anticipation is getting to me. What could it be?

over on Jack Schultz's forum, somebody said Scrambler 500 2x4. Don't know the source of his info....

That doesn't make me wanna go right out and buy. Now a lighter frame for the 400 (or bigger 2 stroke? that's a different story)

Hawkman,

I think it was me who said that they hoped that it WASN'T the Scrambler 500 2x4.

They replied to an E-mail that Jack sent to them. From their reply, it became quite clear that they don't have anything even on the drawing board yet that closely resembles a high performance ATV. It sounds like they are interested in building one. I think that all you'll see from them as far as the "new model" is the same warmed over crap they've been spoon feeding us all these years. I HOPE THEY PROVE ME WRONG!

I have already confirmed with my local dealer that the Scrambler 500 2x4 is coming. He has already ordered them in for later this year.

If this is all Polaris has to combat the DS 650, then I will be disappointed. After test-riding a DS 650, I was not impressed. It looks good on paper, but the Rotax motor was somewhat noisy and the steering seemed a little too grabby. And, it is bigger than a Polaris. I could never take a DS on a trail ride, and forget about picking it up to turn around. I'll stick with the Polaris 400.

Agreed, 98s, about the room for improvement on the DS650.

For now, I'll soop up my 500 thumper.

I'd consider that DS if it had a snowmobile clutch. I'd buy it if it had 4x4. It has reverse, doesn't it?

No reverse gear on the DS. It does have electric start though. And it's huge!

Hi Mike,

I saw your post, but in another post, Jerry Goodman says it is the 500 2x4, again, don't know his source.
I also saw Polaris's reply to Jack. It was disappointing.
