Scrambler vs Scrambler?
#11
I have a MY2000 400 4x4 Scrambler. I too thought I would really want the 4x4. After owning it I can say this, I DID NOT NEED IT. I got the 4x4 because I wanted a year round machine. If you plan to drive in snow 6" or more or deep mud a lot, you will need it. 2wd quads are usless in snow (JMPO). Other than that you do not need it. I used my 4x4 2 times in the snow, it was great but it seams like the Michigan winters are getting more and more mild. SUCKS TO BE A SNOWMOBILER. Also as far as trails, all the trails we ride are groomed in the winter so 2wd is fine.
Now on the 400 vs 500. You ancwered it when you said "I am not planning on modifying it."
Get the 500. It will have better Resale than the 400. 4 strokes alway seem to have higher value used.
Also I think the 500 will be better for everyday Trail riding and hill climbing due to the Low end TORQUE. I think you will be very happy with the 500X.

All you guys are awesome and honest telling me your opinions. BUBASCRAMBLER how well does your Scrambler do in the snow under 6” not in 4x4?
The Scrambler-X 500 is on its way.
Thanks a lot,

Scrmblerman
We did not have much snow this year in Michigan, Seams to get less and less every year. The two times I got to use it in the snow(Both times 6" or less) I was so excited to do so, that I never took it out of 4x4, But let me say this, our 2wd trailblazer went where ever the Scrambler went, just not as fast or with as much confidence so to speak. The prior year I did not have my Scrambler and was getting VERY UPTIGHT trying to get the Tralblazer UNSTUCK from the snow over 6", I swore at that point I would never buy another 2wd atv, My back just couldn't take it. But sence I got my Scrambler I have not needed 4x4.
Just the way things go I guess, I used to loose power at my home everytime the wind blew the wrong way, bought a generator and never loose power anymore.
Anyway you will love you 500X, A friend of mine has one for his wife, very smooth ride and great low end for tight trails, But you already know this from your 01

BUBASCRAMBLER,
I was in Grand Rapids on business in January there was some snow. It was cold but the locals said there were having a light winter. I don’t see snow where I live I have to go up in the mountains to see any. Do you live near Grand Rapids? Great pictures. I will have to show them to my wife. This will be her first quad owned. Thanks for your help.

I live closer to Detroit, I am an East sider, I have Family near Grand Rapids.
Our winter was very mild, they seem to be getting more and more mild every year.
I do the most of my riding Up north in Mio Michigan area. We have a place in Hale Mi, we are North of TAWAS and West of Oscoda, EASTSIDE OF THE STATE.
