Pipe decisions
#11
FTR went out of business about a year ago. I managed to get 2 pipes for free because my neighbor worked for him and his buddy had a few pipes in his back yard. So he went over and grabbed one chrome and one black. I am not sure exactly how much faster it is top speed. It has a pretty cool powerband though, when you hit it it pulls a little wheelie(without pulling in the brake and without pulling up), and carries it for about 25-30 ft. if it has enough traction. I am guessing it has about 5 or more mph on topend, because it revs higher. Just go with HPD or RcR.

I have a DG pipe on mine. The low end is twice as powerful as stock. The top end suffered though. I'm still going to tinker with the jetting to get some big end back. Most of my riding is trails so it works great there.
I can stall it up and ride a wheelie forever.

If I can get twice as much low end power as stock, then that is what I will get. I really want some good low end grunt and acceleration. Thanks a lot for your reply. Also, did you get the chrome finish (EXTREME) or the the normal factory finish? Does it look nice? And is it louder than stock. I want a loud bike.
Thanks

Apparantly SOUND is not a Factor for you,I find that funny because most of us are trying to drop DB levels so we can still ride in the state and National parks. Well anyway in that case yes the DG is very loud compared to stock (SOUNDS LIKE DIRT BIKE). Also I am told the HOT SEAT pipe is louder than the other manufactures also. I also find it odd that you would want to loose power on top compared to stock, A clutch kit alone will give you more pull at the bottom if you don't mind loosing top speed.
I do strongly suggest staying away from DG and FMF for polaris perfomance Items. I just don't beieve they put the time and effort into the POLARIS machine products, at least not as much as your main polaris suppliers like HPD,RCR,AAEN, and HSP.

I had the DG extreme on my 00 trailblazer and it actually performed very well. I mated it with a hotseat clutch kit and a K&N. You will also need to rejet your carb. It is pretty loud though, sounds great, like a 250 dirt bike.

What gains did you get from the DG pipe? SOmebody said they got almost twice as much lowend power!! I need to know if this is fact or just and exaderation. Please confirm this. Thanks. Also, loudness does not matter where i live. (YET)

AJ, SOUND MATTERS EVERYWHERE IN MINNESOTA NOW!!!! Pick up any paper and you'll see the damage the Nature ***** have done. As was just stated at the spring ATVAM (ATV Assoc of Minnesota) Whatever you do today directly affects what happens with ATV's tomorrow. HPD, Hot Seat, RCR. These companies have the newest designs. FMF and DG have not updated their Polaris components....hence their performance won't match. Don't mean to be mean, but with two of the top notch Polaris performance companies in this state, you really don't need to do much shopping. If you worry about getting something different, then, the buddy who has the HPD, Hot Seat, or RCR equipment will be the one in the lead. None of us know everything, but when we all pool our experiences together, then we can save each other time and money....that means more rippin' on da quad!!!

The DG pipe really did increase the low end! I asked the same question when I bought my TB in March. No one replied like they did here. The Pipe has a really cool dark ceramic coating and the silencer is brushed alluminum. It does sound like a dirt bike now. We have no restrictions in OK. The pipe/silencer was $199. After install, I can hold the brake, give it half throttle, relaese the brake, and the front end comes strait up!
It's nice on trails with drop offs b/c you can pull up to the edge and nail it. You will have a nice level jump to land below without carrying any speed.
There is no way it would come close to doing this stock. Please keep in mind, this is the only pipe I have experience with. Not saying it's the best b/c I don't know. Just saying what it did for me.

Hey Ken, just letting you know that I have my CPI drag pipe on the way. It has all the expansion chamber in front of the motor and goes to the stinger pipe all the way to the back. It will be here tuesday. I really wanted to go with HPD's pipe, but I have been waiting for 5 weeks now and am still about 10 pipes down the list. I figure at least another 2 weeks. The big kicker is you can buy CPI's in black or chrome, and the steel pipe with the silencer is as cheap as HPD's pipe alone. The dyno report from them shows it to produce the same HP numbers and run at the same rpm's. And to let everyone out there know, CPI said the old G-force FTR pipe was a copied CPI pipe. They had one in for repair at one time and they said it made 5 hp less than their pipe as well (they dyno'd it while they had it). I really like HPD stuff, but I have had more than one occasion where their customer service has been less than acceptable to me. (I manage a Sears Repair facility). I am sure that Darrell is a very busy body, but you need to keep up with the customer demands if at all possible. I feel that I waited my fair share of time on them. I'll post it and let everyone know what the CPI pipe does. I'm sure that Ken will be interested in knowing,Bubba

I was going to make my scrambler 400 (2 stroke, like trailblazer) go faster buy puting a clutch kit on it, since it loses almost half the horsepower through the poor clutch system. The dealer said to either put a pipe and clutch kit on together or the pipe first because the clutch kits are designed for or w/o a pipe. If you do put a pipe on, you'll obviously have to re-jet, this is tough on the trailblazer because all of the plastic and the carb have to come off. After lots of questions of different people, the only pipes that help are Hotseat, RCR, and HP. All others like DG and FMF just make noise. If you really want to help acceleration, you could go with a new V-Force reed cage with carbon fiber reeds, since they are a lot lighter than stock.
