Thinking about removing my stock airbox and replacing it with a clamp-on K&N filter. I know that the big HP boys run these...more air helps make more HP.

I used to run deep water/mud but after many problems due to water (mostly starter) I now stay away from the local ponds.

I will use a pre-filter around the K&N, these do help in water protection right? What do you guys think? Will I feel any power increase? Thanks.

Adam, the water repellent Outerwear helps a lot, but if you regularily run deep, you might try an aftermarket airbox. HPD now has one (same...I mean very similar to my prototype, hmmmm) RCR also has a larger snout kit for the stock airbox. You can cut out the inside, and use Rick's bigger snout, with a K&N and an outerwear installed.

adamnieman,

The Outerwears help, but are not a solution for everything. I slammed into some water during the last poker run I was on and drowned out the motor. Be careful about the water you splash in, it might go through your motor. Luckily for me, I just popped out the spark plug, gave it a couple of cranks, replaced the plug and wire and off I went. Just remember to re-jet after you pull the air box.
