No More Polaris Bashing
#11
No sense bashing Polaris itself. My problems relate to the quality of service I've had from MY dealer. I unfortunately picked up a new quad, and it turned out to be a service nightmare. Everytime I turned around, something else would happen to this ONE quad. Problems with service began shortly thereafter, followed by a nasty letter from Polaris customer service, saying not to email them anymore. New business philosophy, the customer is always wrong, and our most important company virtue is our quarterly earnings.

I agree I ride with a Yamaha, Xploer 400,and a Foreman 450. It is far better to have someone to ride with than to ride alone, ribbing I can take bashing I dont like I try not to and hope I dont.
If I do I apologize. Like I said have owned many brands some lemons some good one's. I guess what i really want to say on here is in the words of the Not so famous Rodney King Cant we all just get along.
I guess my new motto should be: Shut Up And RIDE!!

As someone fairly new to the atv community, I have to say that I do read and hear a lot of negative things about polaris reliability. I honestly don't know for myself; however I'm in the market for atv's, one for my boys and one for myself, and one of the larger dealers in our state (suzuki, polaris, yamaha, honda) was reluctant to sell me on polaris. When I told him where we lived (extremily remote and rugged) he indicated that he would feel more comfortable if I went for another brand(?) The guy could be full of it, I don't know. Just sharing the info - - I really don't know enough about atvs to form an opinion.

Glad to hear your getting into atv's it is great family fun quality time peroid. I really think that you couldnt go wrong with any of those 4. I dont think you would be stranded by a Polaris but it could happen. Honda does have the best repuation but Yamaha and Suzuki are very good too. Find what best suits your needs, but dont buy one that will bore you in a couple of months, find one that you can grow into as your ability increases. I personaly prefer automatics now but its fun to change gears too.
Main thing find a good dealer you can work with if a problem should arise. But most of all have a great time.

Why shouldn't people bash on Polaris, after all they sold the first Sp 500 knowing full well that the brake was faulty, the extra long linkage in the actuator comes out of adjustment, to the point that you can't put it in gear, and then it took another company to introduce engine braking before Polaris made it available. The truth is Polaris would have continued to allow you to replace brake pads if yamaha hadn't introduced engine braking. Polaris Snowmobile's are another example , there are recalls every season.
It isn't that people are bashing polaris. It's just that alot of consumers are aware of the trash polaris produces.

One thing that all of the people who bad mouth Polaris products should remember- Without Polaris coming along and "Raising the bar" None of the other manufacturers would likly have built automatics, or large displacement machines. So before you go bashing the Polaris Quads just remember that without them a lot of the machines that are out there today would likly not exist today.

wygrizz, you really have the nerve to talk trash about Polaris. What about the Grizz's running so damn hot?Tell me how long Yamaha has know about that? How long has the Grizz's rear drum been filling up with water/mud?Should I tell you more?===BILL

wygrizz,
Gee I didn't know that the yamaha grizz was such a tuff machine. Overheating, loud, fuel pig, heavy, top heavy. I could go on but I'll just post the facts here.
In 1998 at the Hurley off road ralley for ATV's they had a mud pit competition. Not ONE grizz made it through. Wonder why? Could be a POS? I saw it I was there I will continue to ride my Polaris products.
BTW the mud pit winner for auto class was a Polaris. Winner for auto clutch manual shift was a Honda Foreman.
If it means anything to you Yamaha did win the speed radar run with the Banshee.
If you want to talk about snowmobile leaders Ski-Doo is the company to beat not Polaris.
