wet winch

i had the misfurtune of accidentaly submerging the front half of my 00 sp500.my warn 2000 is bolted on the front and it was underwater for about 3-4 minutes while i struggled to drag the machine out of the water.the winch is running and will pull a load.could have i done any unseen damage to it, if so what can i do?

Tmbwn,, don't even worry about it. ive riddin with the winch submerged for what seemed like hours with no i'll effects.

I Agree. I have had mine for 6 years. It put under water alot. No problems. After 6 years I sold the Kawasaki 300 Bayou 4X4 it was on and got a Y2K Kodiak. I purchased a 2500 upgrade kit and decided to open her up to see how she was after so long.
The grease is a Black Moly and does not mix with water. This is good because the water drains off. After 6 years it was trying to harden. I took it apart and cleaned it,then re-lubed it.
It sounds much better. I don't know if it is the Kit or the cleaning.
I recommend a look over @ 3 years.
