I am considering changing the worn, factory shift linkage rod ends on my '90 Trail Boss 250.

After stopping at the local Polaris dealer, I was told, the cost of EACH rod end would be $24.00. That seems a bit on the high side.
I could see maybe $10-12/each but NOT $24.00/each.

Are these particular rod ends "metric"?

Can I use commercially available rod ends (Costs are about $10.00/each)

Dave

I just went down this road about 2 weeks ago. I can't remember what size that I bought, but I can guarantee that you don't want to get the $10 ones I bought. I thought they would be stiff enough, but boy was I wrong. Put it in forward and bent that rod. I ended up going and getting the right one for it, and since I didn't do it right the first time, I spent more $$ in the long run.

Thanks "400"....The commercial rod ends that I have seen are much larger than the small ones on my 250 machine.
I anticipated that a greater bearing surface would result with the larger rod ends, thus lasting longer, I hope.

My machine had a snow plow on it when I bought it from my neighbor (original owner). That was all he used the machine for but I anticipate a lot of back and forth shifting took place (we get lots of snow up here in Wisconsin)
