Grizzly 660 (junk)
#11
My good friend has a Grizz. I love to trade off with him sometimes for something different. That thing runs great! It's a blast to hot rod around on.
It has suffered the engine bog (vapor lock),overheats when playing in the deep stuff (no fan shroud), and the belt gets wet pretty easy, but it's still fun. I would love to own one for a true sport/utility b/c it's heavy on the sport, while my Sportsman is heavy on utility.

<< have any of you looked at the yamaha forums? well when i did i saw stuff on the Grizzly 660 and none of it was very good.
..and it only weighs 600lbs. just like the grizz 600, which wasnt liquid cooled and it didnt have independent rear..(so how did the weight stay the same...lol) well right back if u have heard any thing else bad on them junkers..... >>
LMAO! Have you looked at the Polaris thread titles? There's more problems being reported than anything else. I came here looking for information about the Predator and dug around to see if my buddy's 500 Sportsman was a lemon or if they're all junk. Guess what, they all seem to be junk! Look at the Yamaha or Honda forums and there's mostly questions about jetting, pipes, shocks and tires. And, the biggest thread here is titled "Polaris haters," what does that tell you?
I hope Polaris gets out from under this cloud, cause everybody in my neck of the woods stays far away from the Polaris dealer and that's not the way it should be.

polarisman3, the 600 lbs is dry weight, the water cooled motor and radiator is near the same weight as the air cooled. The irs is only slightly heavier than the solid rear axel. The easiest ways to shave weight, thinner tires (many people change the stock size tires anyway) I think the tires on the sp700 account for 100lbs of the weight difference between the sp700 and the 600lb machines from the japs. Another area is rims, the aluminum rims are lighter than the Polaris steel. A third way to shave weight is to use stronger materials. The weight of say a flame hardend heat treated driveshaft is less than a shandard steel driveshaft.
Did that answer your question?

i own a 99 scrambler 400, 98 scrambler 500,2000 banshee,99 blaster and now the proud owner o a 02 griz. ist so nice to just get on this machine and ride it. the polaris machine seem to always need something. i now have had my griz for 1 month 600 miles with no problems. this is way more than both the scramblers made it before they were in for warranty work.
