Scrambler Racing

I am new to this board so please bear with me. I see on the other board the I visit Every one bashing Polaris saying how they are the worst ones to get, and no one ever races them because they break real easy and dont have the speed to compete. Now mostly these people are EX owners I just want to get the opinion from Polaris people. FOr the record I love my quad and I know thats the important part but I may wanna get on the MX track with it in the future and I dont want to look the Fool.

MadDasher,
Without extensive modifications and the removal of the four wheel drive system, you won't be competative on an MX track with any Scrambler, let alone the 500 4x4. The suspension on these machines is practically stone age compaired to the newer quads on the market. You have to remember, these are Recreational Machines and not racers. The handling can be improved, but not to the point it will handle like a 250R. The motor is, face facts, slow in compairison to even the 400EX which is considered a base line high performance machine. There isn't much you can do there either. Your best bet would be to try a cross country event instead of motocross.
In cross country, you are competing against similar machines (utility unlimited class) rather than dissimilar machines (open class) in MX.

a good friend of mine use to have a scrambler 500 2x4 and raced cross country with it and got the hair up his a$$ to try MX with it and he has a major problem with the a-arms breaking,as far as the engine goes, the only thing he had done to it was a cam and air filter and had more than enough power, so if you can find something to cure the whole a-arm dilema you should be good to go
