The '01 and '02 models are slightly different. For the thing I am talking about on the '02 model you start it like you would a car (turn the key) the '01 you start it on the left handle bar switch. I was just wondering I know their is a P on the illuminated panel on the '02 model that does not come on. I thought if you put the parking brake on it might come on. I know my shifter doesn’t have a P.

 

I think you may be looking at the High temperature light.

 

There is a park light on the 500x, as well as most all of the Polaris ATV's. Only the RMK uses it right now though. You know how Polaris is, all their machines share many parts.
