What are the best and first mods you should do on a Scrambler 500 that provide the most performance and still maintain the engine integrity and factory warranty? Thanks!!

A air filter and clutch kit would be the best start.

Could someone please clarify this air filter thing a bit more. Are you saying just go out and replace your stock air filter with a K&N and you will notice a power difference. I guess my question is- it thats all you do does it make any difference CT 00 Scambler 500

I have a 99 scrambler 500 I got in Nov. I put a K&N filter on it a couple weeks ago and it was noticable but not much. I just had a K&N jet kit installed in the carb yesterday along with a set of spider track tires on the back. I have'nt had time to ride it yet so I don't know how much of an improvement it will be.

Claims are that the filter will increase horsepower by 5% and the same for the Jet kit.

I'd go with the K&N filter and jet kit... Install a Supertrapp IDS-2 pipe.. and make sure you have synthetic oils in everything.. You WILL notice a power improvement..
From there, go with a primary clutch kit, and a roller secondary clutch.... Then get some leather straps for your wrists to keep you attached to the machine when you nail it..

A K&N won't make a night & day difference, but I felt a little more in the middle. Enought o justily $30 for the filter. I didn't buyit for the performance though. For the reliabilty and insurance it provides.

A tuned roller clutch and a tuned primary setup will add more performance than any bolt-on (pipe, air filter, carb etc.). I've put on a pipe, filter, jet kit, airbox mods, rejetted about 3 times and I can tell you the clutches should be the first thing you worry about.
