Steering Damper on Scramblers
#2
I don't know exactly how it would affect a scrambler but on everything else, it helps a lot in bumps and rough riding conditions. It doesn't really hurt your steering ability!!! It just slows down the unestimated movements from unknown obstacles. If that is important to you , go for it but if not, I wouldn't waste the money.

I tryed HPD dampner & the Aaen. The HPD is a total waste of money since it wasn't stiff enough or basically it did nothing even on the highest setting but the Aaen on the other hand can be adjusted a little too stiff so you can always back up 1 or 2 clicks. In the winter the Aaen REALLY became stiff so I backed up a couple more clicks. The point is you can always back off the heaviest setting if you want. To answer your question, yes it does take more steering effort on the heaviest setting but this actually makes it easier on you because you dont have to hang on as tightly, you can go faster over rough stuff, the front end doesn't jerk as badly when each tire is trying to dig in in 4wd so in the long run it really help in the endurance dept. If you ride fast over rough terrain then this is for you. By the way I used my Aaen dampner for about 9 months & broke a bolt so I called them to get another & they said send in the unit & they replaced the whole unit w/ a new one for free. They are #1 in my book.
