I'm just wondering if anyone has a TB modified to the MAX? If so, how much $$$ have you spent total and what is it capible of? I know there are a lot of mods to choose from. What have you done and what has it done for you?

I had 99 Trailblazer that I put an HPD performance pipe on. I also had to add the new clutch weights and springs that were recommended by HPD. Also had to advance the slide needle on the carb for more fuel (per hpd recommendation). It really did make a big difference, but it still wasn't enough for me, so I bought a 400 ex. The guy who bought it from me loved it. It really gave that little 250 more low end power, but it still wasn't enough to even lift the front end up.

Aaron,
You just got your TB running and lookig good. I've been follwing your progress. So why are you getting rid of it now? The way you desribe it and by the pictures, it seem like the perfict ride. So, whats up?

I do this A LOT. I start getting something exactly how i want it, then i get bored because i can't do anything more.

Another factor is. I want something i can shift, and i am really thinking about getting into racing. I recently rode a 400ex around an MX track. It was a blast! My trailblazer was all over the track because of it's weight.

I do love my Trailblazer though..It's going to be hard to part with. I have many hours of work in it.

2 of my friends just bought blasters. It was so much fun to shut them up. All they did was brag about how the blasters are much faster. I left them both behind!

Another great thing is to nail it. pop a little wheelie, and no one believes it's a Trailblazer. It's poor power bring up the front end of a 440lb machine!

Duster,
I like the Trail Blazer so much that I have
two of them. A 99 and a 00. The 99 is not fully
modified yet but I am working on it. This far it has
Oneal bars,HPD pipe,DG silencer, 38mm tmx carb,
Hotseat clutch kit (springs, weights and helix)
Fox rear shock, Daycomax belt, Ported and polished intake and I've trimmed about 1 1/2 in.
of plastic off the front fenders. It BLOWS the 00
away. There is no comparison. It just walks away
from it from a standing start and keeps going.
The 99 feels more like my brothers 400 sport but
with out the top end. I've still have to get new
wheels and tires, swing arm ,axle and front struts
but thats about all I have left to do!!!!!!!!!!!

talonhawk,

If you don't mind me asking...how much $$$ do you have in mods on the '99? How competive is it with other quads? Did you trim off those pointy tips on the front plastic?

Also, I test rode a 250 & a 400 back in December. I was only able to take the down a short paved hill and then sprint back up. To be honest I felt some power difference on the 400. But it didn't seem like it made any speed difference in a short run. It just felt like the 400 squatted down more in the rear on take off.

Both of the quads sputtered awful when I nailed it. Then they smoothed out and went. Do you think they needed a small carb adjustment? I have rode a 400 that was much stronger with no mods. (just a litttle tinkering)

Duster,
So far I probably have around $1000 for
everything give or take a hundred. As far
as it being competitive with other quads,
it does real well on trails but I wouldn't
take it to a MX track. My feelings are, the
Polaris quads are very good trail bikes and
can be improved dramaticly BUT the front
suspension and braking system don't hold a
candle to a MX quad.
The 1 1/2 in. of plastic that I shaved off the
front wheel wells was all the way down to the
mud flaps and some of it as well. The "pointy"
parts are alot shorter than before. The big
DUMBO EAR look is gone but I still have some
protection from mud and stuff.
Sounds to me that your test rides on the 250
and 400 was that they were not warmed up properly.
