sportsman trail machines?

You've got to be kidding right? Sportsman make an awesome trail quad. That IRS is all about being out on the trail, the bumps, the ruts, etc.
The Polaris 2wd/4wd is way more fun than 4wd quads, and it really does work.
...The ONLY down side to the Polaris 4wd system is downhill engine braking, where the front hubs will ratchet ahead of the rear wheels. That means you have to feather your brakes going down the steep stuff and can't rely on engine braking alone. Not that big a deal. The fully engaged 4x4's are better at going downhill under engine braking, and climbing slick hard surfaces, like wet smooth rocks. The Polaris system has to slip a little to engage, which in the slick stuff, can be too late. These conditions are rare though, and in most nasty stuff, the polaris system outperforms.
.....Every 4x4 system has its specialties, limitations and drawbacks. They are all compromises between making them turn, and making all four wheels provide forward motion. The Grizzly's locking front differential works very well, and I hear the Bombardier Quest works well too. In most situations the Polaris 4x4 is easier to use and outperforms.
.....Out on the trail, a Sportsman can zip right along, at pretty impressive speeds, in maximum comfort. They are fun and able. Check out the new 600 twin. Polaris are wider than the competition, making them more stabile and more fun in the corners.
