Polaris First with these innovations.

well, for early model polariss', all they needed was a little extra attention than honda, if you did maintainence(after long rides), and premaintaince(before rides) they where pretty reliable. before i got my sportsman, i used to own a 1986 Polaris trailboss 250r/es, my dad i loved worken on it, it ran awsome, was reliable, and barly fouled plugs. it was a fun bike to ride. and my 00 HO, is pretty reliable i dont do as much work since its newer and polariss' reliability is way better.
for there belt warrenty, they will replace it if, 1. faulty, mis-alignment(should take it in a fix) only way they wont replace it, is if you use improper drive settings when doing misc. things. Eg. haulen a very heavy load in HI would burn up the belt pretty fast, or slow trail riding in HI. and so on.
if you look on the yamaha sports page, under wolverine

<< This is what happens when the best of both the utility and sport ATV worlds collide: the WolverineŽ 350 4WD, the world's best-selling sport/utility 4x4 machine. >>
and ZoomZoom, i am doin fine, howabout you? i ride a 2000 Sportsman HO, with a few mods to it, clutch kit, 2 inch lift, 27 inch vamps. and a homemade snorkle.

Why do things ALWAYS have to turn to negative comments? I understand not being happy with a machine, but I really dont think ZoomZoom started this for what some of you consider bad things for Polaris. He(we) are proud to own Polaris products. Do you really think by posting negative comments it is going to "open" some eyes and make us want to sell our Polaris quads because they "too heavy" or "to slow" or "they break down"??? Do you go to McDoanlds and drive around the parking lot yelling "McDonalds sucks...they cheated me a chicken nugget....I paid for 6 and got 5!!!"? No you go back next week and buy ANOTHER order. Sorry.....to vent...I just cant understand the negativity in some things.

Not to bash Polaris, but I wouldn't be too proud of the ETC (electronic throttle control) a dealer in my area lost his son when the throttle stuck on a new one they were setting up years back,he rode it down the ditch,it stuck wide open, put the kid right into a power pole, head first,a real tragedy. And the reason for the Concentric drive system was the constant breaking of rear chains with the old set up,all other brands already had this problem licked. And as stated before, the Wolverine was first on the scene, the Scrambler followed right after. And isn't their 4wd system actually an AWD (all wheel drive),kicking in the front only when the back slips? And the reason they put foot pegs on the floorboards was from all the complaints of slippery floorboards on the early models. As I said, this isn't a flame, just surprised Polaris is claiming all these so-called "firsts".

Well so far the response to this thread doesn't really suprise me as to the direction it's taking. 95wolv...The ETC is not a Polaris exclusive as it shows on the list and I have no clue as to who came out with it. It's sad to hear that someone had to die because of it if in fact that was the problem. Maybe ETC started on snowmachines for all I know.
Besides that every company upgrades or aleast makes an effort to to improve on their designs or whatever. If Polaris weighs a ton, so what, that tells me they are built heavy duty though my 600 lbs machine is quite enough for me to manhandle by myself. Nobody forced me to buy my machine, it was my choice which I haven't regreted yet. Some of the newer machine like the 650 & 660's or the 700 look like very fine pieces of machinery which I wouldn't think twice about owning, no matter what negative feedback peaple may have about them.
I do have one thing to say about ATV's in general, they are not perfect but they get the job done. If I wanted to go slower with all the comforts/safety of life than I'd buy a Hummer, but then they probably have problems also.
I don't mean to rain on anybody's parade here, one way or the other it doesn't matter to me if Polaris were the first to use gas in their machines. Also since they quit making the 400 2stroke, I think I'll just hang on to mine for as long as it will last, no matter how much grease or maintenance it takes. I love it the way it is.
Thanks, just needed to vent a-bit. (Not something I usualy do)

We had an '87 Suzuki 250 4x4 with IRS that we sold only a year ago, still running strong. I think it was the first with IRS, all 2"'s of it. Hahaha. Still didn't ride that bad, and was AWESOME with the 3 ranges and 3 drive modes. If they put that transfercase/transmission in a 500cc size machine, it would be incredibly capable.
The Scrambler officially came out before the Wolverine, but the Wolverine hit dealers first in some areas. I love Wolverines to death, always have, almost bought one. But I don't think they are very sporty compared to a Scrambler.
