I got my works a-t steeler struts yesterday and put them on. They work great other than when the front tires come off the ground the shocks clunk. You can feel it in the handlebars. I talked to Works and they said to give them less pressure. I tried taking some out, puttin some in but nothing worked. Has anyone else had this problem and if so how did you fix it?
Thanks

no, they clunk when they leave the ground. Like when the struts are fully extended.

hughes,

I believe what you're refering to is called "topping out". What do you have on it for the front springs? Do you have the long travel or short travel struts? The reason I'm asking is that I did put the long travel struts on mine. I used wider A-arms and custom tie rods to keep the camber set right on mine. With the Hot Seat dual rate springs, it sets the sag at about 4". This means that I have over 9 " of travel when I hit a jump and about 5" when I hit a bump. The rear Works shock is also worth the money.

I have the short works struts and the stock springs on it. The front end is all stock other than the tires and wheels.

hughes,

If the clunking sound bothers you, you need to send them back for a refund. It did the same thing on mine. The stock front shocks have rubber bumpers or something like that inside the shock to keep you from feeling that clunk. The works, however, do not. Since the shock itself is what stops the wheel from extending any further down, there is nothing that can be done to correct the clunk. I really wish works would install some sort of rubber bumper to fix this. I still have mine collecting dust in my shed.

Are you saying that you have a set of works struts in your shed collecting dust? If so are you willing to sale them?

Sure, I'll sell them. They have about 2 weeks worth of time on them, riding only on the weekends. I'll sell them for $150, you pay shipping. Let me know. My email is walexa@meila.com
