OK we rode rentals the other day and they were 2001 sportsman 400's and it aint good. mine had like 700 miles on it and the other one had more but....but i hate to say it but they were junk.....i put it in four wheel and it didnt work and after spinning the rear tires for a while 3 tires engaged....the other sportsman 400 whent into low range but wouldnt go out and you couldnt get it into reverse. and the belt squeeked everytime you slowed down....and on mine everytime lets say you are going down a hill then hit the gas, the transmission make a loud clunking noise....I dont know what to think!

I think the 400s are junk becaus they are rentals. People rent them for a couple hours and treat them like crap. What do they care, they dont have to pay for the repairs. Its the renters office fault too. They rent them out and dont maintain them. Its those kind of people that make polaris fourwheelers seem like junk.

true, but shouldn't they be able to take the beating and still keep working properly? Yes, no one cares how they ride the rentals but some people that own them still ride like they dont care.

I have had really good luck so far with my 2002 sportsman 400. But I only have about 200 miles on it.

My neighbors have 2 Sportsman 400's with 500 miles on each. They are are still working great, and they get the heck beat outta them. WE use them for plowing trees, dirt, and snow.

i'm sure a honda yami or kawi would be junk if it was a rental too.
people are pretty hard on those.

and the threshold on abuse on a sportsman is very very high, only a few select customers are frequently in and out of the shop.
And i usually hear about what this or that crazy guy did on his last sunday by about 20 people before the quad comes in to get fixed.

i rented an over-seeder, it was brand XXXXX. it was junk! it wouldn't scrape the soil and plant a seed properly. i exchanged it 3 times to get a good one. i don't know what to think about brand XXXXX. they must be junk.
i rented a brand ZZZZZ power broom to sweep-up the winter sand. it to was junk. i had to replace it twice to finally get a good one. i don't know what to think about brand ZZZZZ power brooms. they must be junk.

C'mon! gimmi- a break!
it's not the MFG's fault these products were a failure.
it was the $fukin fault of the RENTAL COMPANY!

POLARIS builds GREAT PRODUCTS!

(and don't forget it! LOL)
