That engine is not pulled out of a snowmobile. It was designed for use just in the Sportsman. The only 4-stroke snowmobile that Polaris currently makes is the Frontier.

The inline was not designed for the sportsman, it was pulled from a sled that had just been released, and the motor was new as well.
It was originally an 800, which was de-stroked.

<< NEW FOR 2003: The Indy Frontier Touring sets new standards in comfort and quality. It’s powered by our 48hp Polaris Liberty four-cycle multi-port EFI engine >>

firts of all the sp700 is not fuel injected, and second it doesn't have 48HP.

rocky mountain king (RMK) case reed, that's a sign of a 2 stroke. (a really good sign, unless some one has developed a 4 stroke with a case reed!)

the sportsman 700 engine came from the new FRONTIER 4 stroke snowmobile,it is originally a 783cc (twin in-line of course) i think and destroked to 683 cc,are you thinking guys there is 100cc+ that do nothing in your engine but you actually run well with them, and here is a scoop for ya
somehere in the northern minnesota there is a POLARIS FRONTIER that run exceptionaly well...do ya think? (MSX 1200 turbocharged 4 stroke engine)...
