scrambler 500 4x4
#1
Hello, I was wondering if anyone rides their scrambler 500 4x4 on any long distances on paved backroads? If so does anything get hot or wear out a lot? Have any of you had to replace cv joints on these atv's? Are there any other problems you have had with these?Would you prefer the 400 4x4 or 500 4x4 for wooded trails ,cornfields, woods.
Thanks Steve

Although I have not riden hard surfaces for any long distance, I can not see any majior harm being done.
You should not have the 4x4 on due to binding from front to rear.
You will notice VERY VERY quick tire wear and stiff steering due to lack of a differential for hard suface, even at low speeds.
I have not heard of many peaple having CV Joint problems, However the CV boots are quite common.Buy a good set of CV boot protectors.
As far as 400 or 500, this is a very common question that I am sure you could find it you searched the forum.
Basically If you plan to add aftermarket mods go with the 400. The 400 can be made into a real fast machine for realitively little money (MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK) The Mid range and top end performance is outstanding.
If you like the machines stock and plan to leave it alone, (NOT A BAD THING TO DO),go with the 500.
The 500 is a little nicer in tight windy trails and places that require the low end torque that only a 4 stroke can deliver. ITS ALL PERSONAL PREFERANCE in whats right for you.
