Hello folks, Ok, here's what i've got. My TB hasn't been liking to start as of recent. I warmed it up (as best I could) and checked compression, at first, it gets 60 pounds, then, it climbs to 90 after a few more pulls. No more. It is an 86, and has never been rebuilt. Can the engine be "too cold" for an accurate reading?
Thanks,

Ed

Service limit is 115 for 2-strokes. Are you holding the throttle open? Normally takes 3-5 revolutions. Generally keep going, til the reading doesn't climb any higher. If you do rebuild, get the Wiseco piston....MUCH better.

Yes make sure to hold the throtle wide open, this is important. also it shouldn't matter that much if the quad is cold, i mean 90 is pretty low!

Thanks Guys, I need to recheck with throttle held open, i'll do that this evening. One other question. What's a fair price for having that cylinder bored, one of our performance shops quoted 40 dollars.
