Piranha, the only testing these mags have gotten to do was at the factory introduction. This is normally a meet and greet type of ride. The formal testings will soon follow. Having riden both the Rap, and a Pred, the Pred is obviously more stable (you can mod a Rap for this). It's lower, wider, longer. As far as power, the Rap is far more "peaky" when it comes to initial hit. Where the Pred, lets you know it's there, but behaves with a wider power band. Wait til you get to ride one, then you can compare for yourself....everyone always has different likes and dislikes.
Newzman, until Polaris makes something that's 399.5 pounds (lighter than the 400EX)people just won't let the "heavy Polaris" comments rest. Within one week of the beast hitting my shop, it'll be under 400, and you won't even see anything different. Titanium is beautiful!!
Wait til they come out, take one for a rip. If you like it, buy one. If you don't, thanks for having an open enough mind to try something BEFORE you talk smack about it.

Well, I look at it this way with the Pred being alittle heavier.
The Pred has a heavier and better tire on it's paws
The Pred had a bigger backbone *The axle is heavier*
The Pred has good rims on it
You put these things on the Raptor or other bikes..they would be up around the same weight

I'm not rooting for either quad but my .02.

1. With the changes made to the 02 Raptor the dry weight is up to 406 from 399 even though I believe Yamaha still states 399 on the web site.

2. This only make a 9 pound difference which the Polaris folks could probably shave off with carbon fiber rims and maybe an aftermarket pipe. (not sure about actual weight loss numbers on these items)

3. On the other hand for the cost of the rims and the pipe you could do some mods to the raptor that would be screamin'.
