Clunking Sound
#2
Maybe one of the weights is sticking or binding. The next time it starts
making that noise. Take the clutch cover off and start it up. Make sure
its in neutral and parking brake is on. Revve it up a few times and
see if it still makes the noise. While its running you should be able
to see if the belt is binding in anyway and that the primary and
secondary clutches are operating okay or not!

Northstar -- I have clunking sounds/loosening chain on my Scrambler too. I took the chain guard off, and now the chain stays nice and tight. (Gonna replace it with with of those nice metal ones). I'd be sure that your chain guard is adjusted right. Anyway, the clunking sound stayed. Looks like a messed up link. Looks like I gotta replace the chain too!

I took the cover off and the primary cluch is ticking really loud thats it. I drove it around the yard but it wouldent make the clunking sound with the cover off, Theres wear groves from the belt on the back of the cover is this normal? is it normal for the sprocket on the tranny to wiggle about 3/8in. cuz mine does and theres metal shavings every where from the sprocket and the chain? THANKS FOR THE HELP! does anyone know the difference between a scrambler and a scramblerX ? besides the color and the wheels

Are you sure your clunking isn't coming from your front sprocket "skipping" over the teeth on the trans output shaft. If there's lot 'o' shavings, I'd be changing out that front sprocket...it's just held on with a snap-ring.
Ah, you shouldn't have "rub" marks inside your clutch cover, but sometimes when we come down from airial adventures "whahooo!", we might bump, kick, land on it. I'd do my best to make sure it seems "centered" and not rubbing.
I did an unintentional 'Big Air Superman'...wasn't with the seat grab, I was hanging onto the bars for life....once on a road-crew modified ditch crossing. Some riders passing by in a car caught up with me later, they said my feet were WAY up over my helmet. They commented how cool it looked, then I commented on how accidental it really was. HOLY PUCKER FACTOR BATMAN!!!!
Anyway, landed on the clutch cover, and Ohhhh what a racket.
