Scramber Idle Setup
#1
I have a 01 Scrambler 500 4X4 and I'm running into a problem with the idle adjustment assembly. The cable linkage snapped.
I priced out the assembly at a Polaris dealer and they were talking close to 60 bucks to replace.
Before doing anything with it I wanted to check and see if this is a common problem anyone has run into.
I'm hoping there is an aftermarket solution available because I don't want to spend 60 bucks for something that to me looks like a poor design and is just going to happen again with time.
I like the Thumb Adjust screw you turn to set the idle but I wish it was directly on the carb instead of using the tube/cable connector.
Anyone else running into the problem or have any ideas on how I can change this setup to something else?
Thanks,
Jason

Guess I stumped everyone with this one!!!
Must not be a common problem.
Thanks anyways!
Looks like long pliars or drop the 50-60 bucks for all the parts to fix the cheap idle cable setup and hope it doesn't happen again.

HPD sells a very smooth billet aluminum throttle. It'll operate anything from a 34-46mm carb. Not sure what the 500's come with. I've used one for quite a while now. Easy to setup, and maintenance free...although I do open things up once in a while for a squirt of Tri-flo lube on the moving parts and the cable.
