Ken, I pulled out the old mag copys last night to show Dana that mug setting on the black Polaris. She likes that wheeler. I told her to quit drooling and remember that looks arent everything.ha ha. You know, Little Sahara is not as far from you as the group of guys that drove straight from Pennsylvania during spring break. We would like to put faces with names. We might go to St Louis area where Jay runs to get in on some of that action. I would like to do something like Silver Lake, but I'm afraid my pipe and silencer combo wouldnt pass the DB test.Remember, here in the good ole state of Arkansas, we are free to roam around and go just about anywhere as long as it's not posted. Little Sahara has no limits as well, I just think any silencer is better than none like a few quads I've seen. Bubba

Thanks for the complements...I think, hehe. Just coming to the end of my broken foot summer vacation. I'm not sure if I'll get in any trips at all this year. Getting ready for the body lift and 33" tires on the truck, along with a custom (homemade) cold air intake. Kinda hard to spend $250 on something that Home Depot has everything for. I should gab with Talonhawk about the clutch cooler. Changing out the fan size, and some sand drags would be a great test. Enough ramblin' from me. I'll keep you posted on any travels....SURE SOUNDS FUN!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment Sporty.

I'm running the Delta V-Force I reeds. FTZ's alky carb is a 39mm Mikuni modified with a booster jet and works pretty well. I would advise getting the pulse pump that will aid in keeping your fuel bowl full on the long wide open runs. Take the screen filters out of your petcock to allow for better flow. You must also install a vent tube on your gas cap. I would not go any smaller than 1/4" fuel lines. On alky you will consume twice the amount of fuel over gas so it is very important to keep the fuel supply at hand. Gap your plug at .017. Don't forget to purge your quad after the days ride for alky will play hell with the internals if left in motor and carb for a long period of time. Setting up for alky is not really that hard to do. Once done you will be smiling and the competition frowning. I

Scramblered, I run the s-55 weights with the violet primary spring, roller 42-38 secondary with the violet set at 6-1. The clutch engages at 4200-4300 and when the throttle gets hammered it nails 7500 and stays right on the money during shiftout. By the way, I do not have an HPD pipe on my machine. I run CPI's race pipe which makes it's max power at 7500 on gas and 7900 on alcohol. That is with CPI's porting specs, which I have to say is pretty radical. I did lots of research and talking with CPI. Their pipe is extremely well made. Nice and smooth and more neatly tucked in than HPD's (you can also get it in chrome). Their dynos done with this pipe runs hand and hand with HPD's first race pipe (ATVRP8). I do all my own port work and would like to run against a strictly HPD equipped machine. It runs around the 5.30 mark on 300ft, and still weighs 430-435lbs.It runs at the dragstrip on the 660ft mark (1/8 mile) at a 8.90 at 71-72mph. Dont have any other Pol's around here even close to that mark. That's why I like going to Little Sahara. Bubba

I've not ran against any Lectron carbed Pols. Eric has been try to get me to try it out. He's tried both FTZ and Lectron and prefers the Lectron. I'd like to run against one to see if I'm missing out on something.

I've been buggin' him with some questions....kinda thinkin' about pickin' one up. Just switch back and forth between alky and gas.

Ken, I was thinking about the same thing. I ran across a problem, though. I installed a mikuni pulse pump to use with my gas carb to keep things wet at a high extended RPM. Alot of our Briggs and Stratton twin engines use those pumps. The Keihin carb uses a big inlet valve, and no matter how low you set the float, it will overflow the vents pretty badley. So I trashed what I thought was a easy idea and went back to gravity feed. I figured it was worth a try, but I'll just wait until I get that alky carb and pump.Bubba
