Sportsman 400 + 500 owners,

Talked to my dealer and they do not recommend them. In fact, they highly advise against them. Had too many problems with them in the past, especially with 4-stroke quads. Looking for your experiences and views concerning Dynojet and their kits.

I have a '01 SP400 w/ a Biggun pipe and a K&N air filter. With all that extra airflow I need to do something. Please help.

P.S.-Next time I will be leaving my quad bone-stock with the exception of a clutch kit. Too late for this one unless I take it in the shorts for $300-the cost of the pipe. In that case, Anyone wanna pick up a one month old Biggun for an sp400 CHEAP!!!

No, he said they've had problems with them on nearly every brand of quad they've tried. Said they were a real 'hit and miss' kit...sometimes they worked fine other times they run into difficulties. Given that the kit came with a full two pages of troubleshooting tips it looks like the dealer isn't lying. He said the worked good on 2-strokes though.

I totally agree that the kit is a hit and miss deal. what you are trying to buy is perfect jetting from somebody that doesnt have a clue what mods are on your bike or what elevation or what temp you will be running. The jet kit is a generic thing, if you fit in that group the jet kit will be perfect otherwise it wont. If a person has a little skill they can get their quad them selves and have it perfect, or at least take the quad to a "competant" dealer and let them do it.

I dont like any jet kit.All I have ever done is when I put on a pipe or high flow filter I read the plug and adjust from there using factory jets and moving the slide up and down.

Well, I guess I'm a victim of false advertising in a way. Dynojet made it sound so simple. "for use with K&N filter and stock airbox (-got it). For use with a good aftermarket exhaust between these elevations use this jet size.(-ok, fine)" Should've known better...sounded too perfect/easy.

Dealer said they should be able to make it work with about 2hrs of work, even then its a maybe. Don't have the knowledge to do it myself. At $48/hr I can't afford a maybe. Am probably gonna send the kit and filter back, as well as get rid of my pipe. Any other opinions are welcome... Haven't completely made my mind up yet.

jetting isnt that difficult, your pipe manufacturer should have given you a starting point. If you would like a little instruction let me know.

Ronnnnn,
Biggun gave me NO jetting specs whatsoever when I bought my pipe. Thanks for the offer, but it would take a book to bring me up to speed. Never done it before, never seen it done, don't have clue about carbs. Probably
best if I learn by watching instead of doing.

BartlettRacing,
Is that the Jordan, Mn just south of the Cities, or the Jordan, Mn up by Duluth?

Hey guys, thanks for the info. Talked to one of my buddies that knows how to jet carbs. Said he'd do it for a case of beer. By the way, he also does not think highly of Dynojet. This will save me a drive and some $$. Thanks again for the offers and info, its appreciated.
