broken tranny of xplor 400
#1
2000 400 and over the weekend went over a 1 foot jump.... landed soft but I heard a crunch. Looked down and seen oil leaking. The tranny case cracked and now makes a funky noise. The chain also broke. So..... did the chain cause the prob or the tranny cause the chain to break.... also where does one find a cheap tranny and how much should it be.

If it was the right hand case half that cracked, polaris improved the design on that half a whole lot. Your chain broke from the jump and wadded up around the front sprocket, and this caused the case to crack. The case half you need to order retails for around $220, and you need a couple garloc bushings, and a seal. If you didn't ride it after this happened, your bearings and stuff might be ok. If you're not handy with a wrench, leave it to a dealer. There are several tools you will need, along with a service manual. If you get a dealer to perform the replacement, you are probably looking at a minimum of $500. Good luck. By the way, do a search on this forum with search word "crack" or "tranny" or the like. This topic has already been discussed several times, and there's alot of good knowledge out there.

I don't believe that transmission on ebay is for a chain drive Polaris, it is for the Sportsman and 6X6, if its the one at:
