Got the good news from the accountant( Tax Refund $$$$ ) and it looks like I'll be picking up a '00 Scrambler this week.... and then be calling RCR for a Stage 1 Kit. Anything that I need to know and / or get with the quad ? What's the best 2 stroke oil for the engine?

Excellent choice Im very happy with mine. Ive had it since January no problems. I would suggest if you ride in rocky area like I do the rear swingarm skidplate and the polaris gold oil is what I use.

Unless you plan to go to pre-mix, go with the Polaris Premium Synthetic. At 230lbs. you might not get the full effect of the kit, but you will feel a difference. Break down for a new set of handlebars while your at it, the ergonomic gain will be worth it.

Is a 2x4 400 Scambler something like a Sport 400L?
