i just checked my belt on the scrambler 500 and its time for a new one there wasn't much left of the old on. My question is which belt should i get. ive heard about people useing the 700 belt but is there any gains from this belt??
Or is there another belt i should look at that will last a while but won't hurt the clutch?? thank you.

HPD claims to have the best belt on the market. It is made by Gates and if you do a search you will find the Gates #. I have heard this belt may cause wear in your clutche Plates???????

The DAYCO MAX is also a nice alternative. Not as hard as the Kevlar HPD unit but will still outlast your OE unit.

I have each of these in my two Scramblers and have no complaints thus far.
The DAYCO is a little cheeper and available through DENNISKIRK.com

The Hpd belt is great and I was the one that did some reserch on the belt and found out that Gates makes the belt for HPD and you can go to your local NAPA dealer and get the same belt (made by gates also)for half of the price.I made the mistake of buying the HPD belt at first untill i looked at the number and went to napa to see if they could cross this belt and they did.HPD belt was 40.00 and tha same belt from napa was 22.00.

I belive it is a GATES part# not a NAPA part.

You would go to your local store and request GATES belt #

You are correct, that is the gates number. I have been buying them through our O'Reillys part store for quite some time now. Anyone that sells gates belts should be able to order it for you. And the 19AT4090 is the correct part number. Do be aware though, The belt has very little slip and it will wear a groove in the primary clutch. If your machine is mild modded or stock, it is best to stick with a softer compound belt. I've heard that the aramid cord belt (as per Bubahyde)is suppsed to be good as well.I think I am going to put one of those on my wife's trail modded Scrambler. Bubba
