kodiak 400 and kodiak 500
#1
I know its kinda off the polaris topic, but i was wondering why they only made the kodiak 450, 12 more cc's than the 400. To me its still considered a 400 because my sportsman400 has 425cc's. does it really have mch more power than the 400? Can the kodiak450 compare to the sportsman400? any replies would be cool.

I believe that the 450 is based on the old 400, but with a little more umph, remember, just because you dont get more cc's, doesn't mean you cant' get more power out of it. Like the 500 sportsman, the H.O. did not have any more displacement, just a hotter cam, and carb, that can get you noticeable hp increases.

I agree, it looks like a nice quad, but the new motor is based off the original 400, being tilted 45 degrees in the chasis and all that. But like I said, it doesn't take much to call it a new motor, new pistons, cams, carb, there is your new motor, I would bet that the old motor had a huge influence on the new one.
