Scrambler 500 Mods??
#1
Just purchased 2003 Scrambler 500 4x4. Not very impressed with the power, or lack of. Will not even bring the front end up and do a wheelie when you nail the gas. Is this normal? Is it worth doing any mods to? Maybe I should have bought a 2002 Scrambler "X" 4x4 for $500 less. Help me out people. Thanks

Call up HPD and get an exhaust, carb/airbox kit and clutch kit. This help the bike out. I can ride wheelies with 28" Outlaws all day long, when it is low range. Put the 25" Rawhides back on and it will easily ride wheelies in high.

Clutch kit!!! Put a clutch kit in it, pipe, muffler, jet it, put in a K&N airfilter and you won't believe the difference. If you change tires, I would suggest you stay with stock height or change both front and rear the same amount. Otherwise your gearing won't be right and you will eitheir break something in your drivetrain or scrub your tires off in a hurry while in 4-wheel drive. Going with wider tires will definetly help you in the mud and muskeg. In the muskeg, I just lean back and and it will pull the front wheels off the ground in 4-wheel drive and walk across almost anything. I have got an HPD chain tensioner also. This is a must if you plan to jump your quad much-it saves you from breaking your chain.

If your front end won't come up, then you are either running out of traction, or there's something wrong with your machine. It may, possibly, need broken in to get the max. power without mods. Yes, they're heavy, but not that heavy that they won't raise the front end.

Those are the best companies to go with. They all deal with polaris. If you go with a pipe and silencer stay with one company. dont mix and match.I have HPD and love it.I think you will get the same performance from all 3 companies.Once you do the mods you will have one fast ride.GOOD LUCK!!!

They did not make a 2002 500X with 4x4. My 500 will pull the front end up very easily with no mods. Of course it is about 50lbs lighter than the standard 500 2x4.

I can pull wheelies on mine and ride them easily. It takes a couple of tries if you are not familiar with an automatic. You have to realize that the belt doesn't engage right away when you nail it. It takes a split second, then give the bars a lil pull and you got yourself a wheelie.
