anyone out there ever have a '99 scrambler 400 4x4 sound as if it's skipping at lower speeds/throttle? mine does, and the other day we went riding and it wouldn't rev as high or as fast as usual and now it is leaking fuel out the back of the carb. 'reckon they are related problems?

nah, it's a miss in the engine, can't tell if it's fire or fuel.
quite possibly fuel, i found out they updated the needle and seat and
i noticed mine was leaking fuel after riding it. maybe it's getting too
much go juice? i'll let u know tomorrow after i put the parts on.

so it's a bog down low,try some air/fuel screw changes on the carb, make a plug test at where the bog happen then you should able to
set the jetting properly,if the needle have been updated try to go down 1 size clip,i think the stock '99 400 jetting is 230.

i don't understand the bog down low part...
and what is a plug test? it's a miss all the time and it's got a new plug, the coil and wire ohms out good and it has good compression.

a plug test will be to check spark plug colors for proper jetting, when the engine is hot and you're running hold the throttle where the bog happen for 300-400 yards, then let the trigger (without re-pulled it)and STOP the engine with the ignition switch, check spark plug color it will tell you what happen at that rpm.a good thing wil be to check ignition/pre-ignition on the plug (porcelain) and electrode.make some carb cleaner into the engine.it is maybe your tranny electronic control
that bog,i got this problem when mine was stock...check this out.
