Has anyone used the Aaen orange primary spring for low-end performance? Wondering what it takes away from mid to top-end performance and how aggressive the low-end performance is.

I have had good luck with the white spring from Polaris.
If you are out for maximum acceleration for minimum $$$, and can live with a loss of low-speed control, try the factory green spring.
I have no idea how they compare with Aaen's springs.
You can get the factory springs thru Ritter Cycle (www.rittercycle.com)
I told Rick I got his address off the forum, and he checked out my posts, and gave me a few hints on how to do things (I got a Wiseco piston & gasket kit from him a while ago). He really goes the extra mile for customer service.

I have a blue on in my Sportsman (stock). Will a white on give the machine better acceleration?

Question2
When you use a tank bag that covers the belt exhaust it will leave grey belt dust on the plactic next to the duct. What can I use to get this dust off?

as stated before, your into tricky area when doing spring changes. I'm not a 100% sure about the 4x4's (havent owned one), but the year you have in a 2 wheel drive would have a white spring in the primary. If it does, you would want a spring comparable to the polaris green or even purple. That would give a little higher engagement but not affect top rpm's. Go to HPD's website and look at the clutch springs. The white, green and purple OEM springs are listed. You want to stay right at the second number for sure. That affects running rpm's and shift point. The first number will affect engagement. I like the purple for trail riding. It keeps the rpm's up and helps to climb easier in my opinion, but I like alot of engagement. One thing to remember, if you change, you will have to hold the reverse limiter button to go backwards. Hope this might help.Bubba

Weedy the white spring in a sportsman is great. And you never want to cover the air duct to your belt.It will get hot and ruin the belt not to mention run like Sh.!

The reason I am asking is, I have the Aaen red primary and light blue secondary. They are for top end. It has a great take off for racing - it is like a stall. But I do a lot of trail riding and am wanting better low end. He!!, I'd even like to ride wheelies now and then. I talked to Aaen and they told me to put the orange primary in. I was just wondering how aggressive it was on take-off and how much, if any, top end I'll lose.
