Default Carb Adjustment Starting point

I am wondering what would be the starting points
1-carb slide gab
2-air and idle screws

1998 scrambler 400
HSP Speed kit
V-force delta 2 Reeds
Reed spacer
250 main jet
25 pilot jet

I am trying to correct a low end hesitation from 0 throttle that seems to last about 2-3 seconds
I beleive I may found a blocked passage from the pilot jet that angles to the cylinder

Thanks
Tom

As far as the slide gap, just set your idle accordingly. I think mines normally around 1000 or so. For air mixture, do a throttle chop jetting test to see what your plug looks like. With the low end mixture, you should shoot for crisp throttle response, balanced with proper plug color (cocoa brown) If you're running the Hot Seat pipe, it is a unit more geared at higher rpm range. Thinking back to when I had mine, there wasn't as much low end as top end. I know you can "tune" that to a certain degree with different spacers that HSP normally provides. Also the spacers in the primary can add or subtract to a low end bog.

You're just south of Chicago, I'm presently working at O'Hare, and good riding around here besides the badlands?

OK
Its running much better since cleaning the blocked passage in the carb but needs to be fine tuned
I'm right in the area that Hot Seat says I should be for the jets . I may need to go to a 20 pilot jet
but I want to ask about "throttle chop test"and "spacers in the primary"
I do have exhaust spacers that came with the pipe-I have 1 spacer in and have 1 more that can be put in .
I was planning to put it in now so I can see what difference it makes in trying to get rid of what I now would
call a lag it the throttle response

I'M about a hour south of Ohare

The Badlands is where we usaully ride but Ive heard there is a place in Taylorville (around springfield)
that is about half the size of the badlands but thats all I know about it
Ive also heard there is a place around Terra Haute,In. but with with winter coming I think next year will
be a better time to check them out.

Thanks for the riding info Tom. If you do a search, there should be plenty of info on plug reading, and throttle chop/jetting. Any problems, ask anything, there's lot's of great people here to answer anything you want to know.
