Possible Engine mis-alignment?!?
#1
Hello Polaris Lovers!
My dad and I have a Polaris 700. (First one to get to our dealer)
It seems the belt is always screaching. After changing the clutch,
belts, etc. The dealer says the engine is mis-alligned.
Wouldn't that be bad engineering, or could it be bad assembly?
He said something about putting spacers/Slivers.
(He explained it as the triangle parts to allign the sides of
household doors except be made out of metal)
Is this a valid fix, or should I start rolling up my sleaves to
duke it out wih Polaris? We also had problems with the adjusting
of the EBS. Now the dealer says the idle should be placed at
1500RPM, we think it's just to cover up the problem because it won't
even shift out of park at 1500. The sound happens just lower than 1400.
My dad is a certified GM mechanic, so he finds his way around.
Any ideas?
Thx in advance.

If your machine is under warranty, I'd let the dealer do the work (be sure to save your receipts) Hotseatperformance.com will have clutch and engine alignment tools that work really slick. Their engine/trans "jig" is simple but sweet. With your dad working for a dealership, he's very familiar, I'm sure with how Polaris is actually the dealer's biggest customer.

:The idle adjustment is 1200 rpm's. The driven clutch has shims for clutch adjustment. You will need an ebs clutch alignment tool which you can get from HOTSEATPERFORMANCE.COM Sure sounds like your dealer is out in left field.Do your self a favor and pick up a 700 service manual from polaris part#99116577 PS. THIS IS A VERY SIMPLE JOB.
