if your going to do it, i would suggest getting a better filter, and DEFINETLY an outerwear. also. you will need to rejet your carb. if you do these two things, you should be fine

I don't think anybody makes a slipon air filter for you stock carb. I'm sure someone
else will know for sure. You can shorting the black air inlet tube, the one that hangs
down inside the airbox, by cutting most of it away. Leave about an inch. Then get a
K&N drop-in filter. This should help some!

Not to beat up on your idea, but are you thinking your your carb and engine setup can outflow your airbox. Not all that likley. I did pull the snorkle and rubber donut thingie from my srambler 400 as I thought that "might" be restricting me, but unless you're dealing with some mighty small holes, I'm not sure you're gonna see anything for your trouble.
