Major problems new Sprot's Man 500 HO!!!
Sounds to me like you need a new dealer. Mechanic should have been able to fix those problems the first time or even giving him credit the second time, but this just sounds rediculous. I must say though my father loves Polaris, however he had a lemon once. It was the 335. It kept burning belts and the motor blew in it 3 times in a year and a half. He finally went to a new dealer and amazingly he never had another problem with it. It was a very expensive lesson though.

Well I got my bike back today! They replaced the mechanicl seal and gsket on the water pump, they put a new PTV cover on from where the belt split it when it shattered, and they replaced the rear brake padds to resolve the brake issue. On my buddie's bike, they found a wire that had came loose that caused the battery to stop charging, replaced the broke shift linkage rod, tested the charging system on the bike, and rechecked the belt and the alignment of the gears. Guess we will have to see how this works for now.
Thanks for your help

You will never guess what happened today! Less than 3 hours of riding, and about 15 miles later, SHADDERED BELT! PISSED! We will have a more agressive talk tomorrow about this. I want anthor bike, which I do not think they will do, or let me have full credit towards an upgraded bike. Like a 600 or something. I had to have my buddie pull me about a 1 mile off the trail to get it to the truck. Could you imagin being deep in the trails, or better yet mud riding, and you have no belt. Or worse, you could be going up/down a steep incline, and the belt bust! Wonder what kind of problems that would create. I am also going to see if they could just change the drive chain to a standard. That should fix the problem as well. I will let you know what happens later on.
Thanks again!

lightingsvt,,, tell your buddy to check and see if his voltage regulator is connected? i had charging problems with my sportsman 500ho, where one minute my lights and speedometer would work and then they wouldn't. the voltage regulator is located at the front of the 4 wheeler right by the radiator.

Well we have ironed out a way to fix my problems w/my SP500 HO! I am trading it back into the dealer on an SP600. I am supose to be picking the SP600 on Friday. I say trade in, because their is some price difference in the bikes. I have to tell you that I guess I am one of the lucky ones, because I have a home town dealer that cares. They have really been working with me on the problems, and we both came to the agreement that this was problably the best answer. I just hope that I will not have anymore BELT problems. That is the worst feeling of going riding with a brand new bike, and wonder if your going to need someone to pull you home. I will let you know how the bike turns out in a week or so.
Thanks for all the help.

Thanks mtpockets:
It was through your help and wisdum of the forum that showed me the lite! I think I will be happy w/it. I have not seen any post on the forums about the SP 600 or the SP 700 w/belt issues. Maybe this is because the drive chain is a little different, and the clutch ingages softer. Who knows!... Come Frdiay, I should be picking up my new Green SP 600. Can't wait!
Thanks agan!
