2003 Scrambler 500 4x4
#1
A few questions:
1. Any changes for 2003?
2. Were the zerks eliminated like on the sportsman models?
3. What is the ground clearance at the lowest point of the swingarm?
In looking at many posts it seems like the scrambler is a very technically sound and realiable machine. Is this correct?
Thanks.

Most changes are just minor or cosmetic changes for 2003. Of course, the new plastic (blue) is one. Others include a drain plug on the belt housing, a plastic oil tank(I think this came in mid 2002), and the lube for life bushings. I am not sure which bushings have been switched to the "lube for life" bushings. I will have to head up to the dealer and check that out.
The lowest point on the swing arm by the rotor and sprocket is about 6.5 inches.
The Scrambler is a solid quad. It is in a class of its own and is meant to be ridden with a different style because it is not pure sport and not pure utility. It cannot be jumped high or worked too hard, but it is possibly one of the funnest/best quads to have out on the trail.

The new 2003 Sportsmans still have zerks on all drive train components and front ball joints (total of 7 now). The swing arms (front and rear) no longer have grease fittings.
