Default WHAT ARE WE DOING WRONG????????????

We must be doing something wrong. My family have seven (7) polaris atv's and we do not experience the problems I see on these forums.(2002 Sportsman 700,1999 Sportsman 500,2000&2001 Trailblazers,1999&2001 Magnum 500 and 1987 Trailboss)We also ride with as many as 35 other Polaris riders three times a year and they just do not have the problems I read about.I think there are a bunch of people who own jap atv's putting a lot of bull*#*t on the Polaris forum.p.s. we ride approx.65-75 miles per day and it is not on a paved road.(2002 Sportsman 700 1860 miles-1999 Sportsman 500 5400 miles)

For what it's worth, it's the vocal few who are very likely the ones with problems. Likewise, there are a lot of very satisfied Grizzly owners out there that aren't having problems at all. But then there are those posting on these forums about boiling gas and broken axles.

It's just kinda anti-climactic to see posts like, "My (insert quad here) is doing fine! No problems!"

I agree isn't that one of the major reasons people use the forums, to find out how to tweek mod and fix there ATV's. I think that this is a great place to get help on any ATV question and that includes the problems.

Hey, that's a good advertisement for the ATV Connection forums.

I spend alot of time over at thedieselstop.com, a site for Ford Diesel owners. After I bought my truck and started looking at the site to learn about my truck, I was amazed at the problems people were having, and the modifications that all these "experts" were swearing that I needed just to drive my truck to the corner for coffee. After reading the posts on that site, I was beginning to think that I just threw away 40 grand on a piece of junk. But the fact of the matter is, the percentage of owners who actually know about and frequent these sites are miniscule compared to the people who drive their atv's and trucks every day with no problems whatsoever. Chevy, Dodge, Ford.....Honda, Polaris, it doesn't matter. The people who tend to frequent these sites (and actually make posts, not just lurk) are either here because they have a problem that they are trying to solve, a choice they are trying to make in purchasing, or they just want to see how far they can modify and push their machines. There also seems to be a fair number of immature kids who frequent the atv forums for the sole purpose of trying to get satisfaction from pi**ing people off, but I try my best to ignore them.

Also keep in mind, the people who frequent these types of sites on a daily basis are FANATICS. They/we live and breathe our atv's/trucks/whatever forum we subscribe to. We ride our atv's alot harder than the average joe, and we tend to modify them beyond their engineered capacities as well. That leads to alot more mechanical failures than normal.

I've never even looked at a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki etc. forum before, so I really have no idea if those machines are better than my Polaris or not. I don't care either. I've been extremely happy with my SP500 over the past 3 years. I have beat the living daylights out of the thing, and it still runs great. Sure I have some of the same quirks that pop up in every model year, but no model year of any vehicle or atv is 100% defect free. Most people who don't frequent these kinds of forums never even realize that what they are experiencing is a problem.
I had no intention of getting rid of my trusty 500, but while I was brokering a deal to buy my dad and father-in-law a pair of Magnum 330's, I fell in love with the SP600. I had every intention of driving it till the wheels fell off, which I'm sure would be many years down the road. These atv's are able to take an amazing amount of abuse. If you are equally aggressive in the maintenance, any machine will treat you right for a long time. But if you ride hard, put it in the garage, and forget about it, you can expect to be spending alot of time on these forums trying to fix stuff.

Enjoy the ride.......

I was (and still am) a happy Polaris owner. The Sport I had was great and the Trailblazer is still on it's original bore. Of course I did take care of them. I spent one day after each ride going over them with a fine tooth comb. Cleaning, greasing, adjusting the chain, etc.

Hey mike hope you love your new EX as much as you did your sprort. And like you said after each ride you would go over your machines,I do the same and the only time I swear I will get rid out my Polaris s is when I have to adjust all 3 chains on both the same day.I still love them both esspecially when they run with the new big 4x4s and go places they cant. One more thing. How do you like the 250EX my son is wanting one but I keep putting him off.Dont think he is big enough for it yet and want him on his 125 Breeze another season. But If I give in will it suit him ok .He is 10 and small for his age but has been on his own quad since he was 5. Hapy riding Brad

I am not a FANATIC yet. You get that title when you reach 5000 posts.

Chet

PS,

ftwflh, if your son can reach the foot pegs, I think he could handle that 250EX with ease.

ftwflh,

My kids love it. They spend endless hours rolling it (side to side, end over end, etc.) over. I'll tell you the truth, it is a darn good machine maintenance wise and tough as nails (only a broken front brake lever from all the rolling), but it needs to be both wider and longer. The wider part I can fix with a set of wheel spacers, but the longer part I can't because of the shaft drive. What good is a lower center of gravity if the quad is too narrow and short? The Breeze sounds like a good machine for him. Just don't let the dealer know you are buying it for him, tell the dealer it's for your wife.
