Finally got a Predator!

Yes all the bikes are mine, but I have to share with my 17yr old son. If you havent noticed my location, I am 5 minutes form the Dunes here in Coos Bay The predator is a little heavier in the front end than the 400EX, so it doesnt come up on you when climbing hills at the worst time like the 400EX can. I can wheelie a lot further on the 400EX, but then I am really used to that bike compared to the Predator.

Hey guys, just got my new predator too. Let me tell ya this thing rips, it outhandles both my banshee and lt 250r. Like you guys said it is alittle low on the lowend. Hope the sprocket change helps. Other than that I love it. Cant wait to open her up and see what its really got.

Yeah those stickers are such a pain. I got the two off of the left front fender without a whole lot of work (including the residue), but the one on the rear by the seat was a major pain. Had to use a razor blade and I still haven't gotten all of the residue off yet. It's about 95% gone and there are some scratches left, but the gray/silver plastic hides it very well. That's one very good thing about not having the black.
I haven't attemped the other sticker on the left rear fender nor the remaining one on the right front. For as long as it's taking to get them off, I'd rather spend the time riding. I'll deal with them later.
My "tiny tach" is a neat little $39 job I got from Cabelas. Go to www.cabelas.com and click on ATV Accessories on the left, and then when the page changes, click on ATV Accessories again at the bottom of the list that appears on the right (it's directly under the "Winches/Hitches/Bumpers" link. The Tiny Tach is then the fourth item down on the left when the little pix appear. I have one of these on every quad. It's great to be able to see what RPMs you're at, but it's not readable enough to try to shift at while racing. Since it's small, digital and not backlighted or anything, you won't be able to read it if the RPMs are changing quickly. But it's great for just seeing where you are at cruise and idle. Installation is easy... wrap the red wire around the spark plug wire and then attach another wire to ground. That's it!
I'd love to have a real tach but so far the only ones I've found that will work are $250+. Autometer makes 'em and they're part of their motorcycle line. Also the smallest one I've found is 3-3/4", which is still kinda big. The one 2-5/8" model I saw only went to 7000 RPM.

Where is Reno Cycles? I just moved away from there last month, dont remember that one. I bought my Z at Micheals. Fallon has a full line Polaris dealer as well, may be worth the drive. Congrats on the new quad!

Good review! It looks like a sweet machine.
One thing I noticed is the weld splatter. Take a look at this photo
You won't find that on the Japanese bikes. It would be nice if Polaris took a few extra minutes to clean that off rather than just painting over it.

Talked to my dealer yesterday....the crate is in....the beast has finally arrived. Won't be back in town for a week, so gonna have to wait some more, ARGGGGGG!!!!
You guys wanting that tiny tach, might just want to research the analogue units too. The Sun, Autometer, or the HPD analogue units read faster, and truer than the digital units. Just my 2c.
Ken
Finally TLD Predator, feelin guilty about spending on myself near Christmas? hmmmm, nope.

I will get to compare my friend's piped and jetted Raptor to my Predator this weekend (and vice versa). But I DO think it has the same low end right now as my fully piped (header too) and jetted 400EX with 14T sprocket.
You're right about the welding splatter... I saw that too last night and wasn't sure if I liked it.
Reno Cycles is on Keitzke Lane just north of Mill St. on the west side.
Ken: Glad your machine is here!

I found a good way to remove those unneeded safety stickers. I bring water to a boil on my camp stove. I then dip a shop rag in the water and place it on the sticker that I want to remove. Let lay over the whole sticker for a minute or two then start at the corner with your thumb nail. You can usually remove the entire sticker in one or two pieces. Twenty minutes and a couple of beers is all that it takes to get the stickers off of an ATV.
