Default Largest tire without problems

What is the largest tire that I can install on my 2001 500 HO without having to worry about breaking or ripping my plastics off. And without having clearance problems.

Thanks

i had 26" Outlaws on my SP500. fronts were 10". rears were 12" wide.
rears no problem.
fronts were terrible. they rubbed bad on turns with the stock shocks even with 2 sets of Polaris rubber spacers.

i think the TREAD had a lot to do with it. you see, with the Outlaws the tread wraps-around the sidewall of the tire for better gripping in deep mud. and that's where things get skrewed-up. other tires don't have that side-wall tread so i think some 10" wide front tires would work just fine.

i think you have to list what tires you are concidering going with to get accurate feedback.

The biggest you can go is a 26". In front the widest you can go is a is a 9 or 9.5 and 10" wide vamps will work too because they really measure 9.5" wide. Any wider and you will rub the shocks.

Here is a free tip to someone who wants to put wider front tires on their Sportsman. Use wheel spacers from a Yamaha Banshee. They have the exact same 4/156 bolt pattern as Polaris does. I believe Durablue makes them.

I dont have a problem with the ITP 589's
10's and 12's
If you hit the whoops just right the tire would rub the fender,

Yeah if you want to put wider tires on front you can put on spacers. Wide Tracs made by Highlifter are by far the best. I have the 1.5" Highlifter also makes 1" wide. Plus spacers also give you more bit in the ruts.

I'm sure 26" tire will do fine for "normal" riding but I have had my rear tires rub the plastic on landing from a jump and they are stock 25" Tracker Ps.
