Let's just say I've chased that gremlin before.
I wouldn't really call this something to look out for as if it was some great engineering flaw. I've seen this on more than one brand of machine. Never the less, it is something that alot of people would have a hard time finding. Hopefully, everyone that runs into this problem will find this post, uncle or elroy(small pat on back).

My Scrambler does not stall or even hesitate when water covers the carb drain. My only mod is a splash gaurd for the belt exhaust. I ride in creeks quite often and no one has a problem. My friend on a 400EX and myself on the Scrambler both run our machines to the point of floating without trouble.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was confused since all these vehicles have four wheels.
My Scrambler has never been bothered with just a drain hose under water. My belt driven 4x4 can go deeper than a manual clutch quad. Who would have thought? Doesn't a belt make a vehicle inferior?

Didn't take long for my post to get edited. It is interesting how one quad can be so badly affected by a small amount of water while another floats in it with no problems. Years ago I watched a few Scramblers cross a flooded creek. They would cross as fast as they could with a cool looking "V" of water flying off the front fenders. Meanwhile, a few states away, the yet unknown Predator was getting pushed back to base in a rain storm.
