Z400 VERSUS 500 4X2 SCRAMBLER..QUICK ??
I've got a quick one for you all.
My brother is looking at a new quad and I would like him to get Polaris ,just 'cause I have one, but he really likes the z400. Predator is out -no reverse- and he wants a 4-stroke.He loves riding my 400 scram and thinks it is a well balanced ride. The local dealer has a carry-over 500 2x4 scram so there is still hope of getting one.Anyone out there ever compare these two rides.I think the z is an awsome machine.I raced one a couple times and I was impressed. How would a 500 compare??

My brother has a '01 500 2x4 Scrammy. It is a sweet quad, but it will not run w/ a z-400 on the top-end. I dragged against a 400ex and it is a few quads faster than a 500 Scram on top. A z-400 is supposed to be faster than a 400ex. Tell him to at least look at the Predator it is a sweet quad. Raptors are for the few and the proud

I had a 2001 Scrambler 500 2X4 and traded it for my Z400. The Scramlber is a nice quad, torquey, sounded fantastic with the FMF pipe and could really get you out of some situations.
The Z400 will stomp in into the dirt powerwise, especially after about 20 MPH. 7 quad lengths probably by 55. I beat a pipped and jetted 400 ex with my stock Z400 by 4 quads, so that gives you an idea based on your other comparison. Speed is not everything. The Scrambler is a great hill climber, you don't get stuck much cause you don't have to shift and it's nice n big.
The Z handles better, is much lighter, if faster and easier to maintain.
